Jacques Brel

Ne me quitte pas

Jacques Romain Georges Brel (Schaarbeek, April 8, 1929 – Bobigny, October 9, 1978) was a Belgian singer, composer, and lyricist who rose to international fame in the early 1960s. After retiring from the stage in 1967, he was active for some time as a film actor and director. During the most important part of his career, he collaborated extensively with composers François Rauber and Gérard Jouannest. Brel, who lived in Brussels, considered himself a French-speaking Fleming.
