Salim Bayri (Casablanca) is an artist graduated from the Escola Massana art school (Barcelona) and currently a Masters degree candidate in Art, Design and Technology at the Frank Mohr Instituut of Groningen (Netherlands).
Being born and raised in a crossroad country like Morocco and living in Europe, his work stems from questioning the disparity between self, cultural and national identity. By taking daily life as subject matter, his work is the outcome of examining the different layers of identity labels that supposedly define his persona as a migrant. With a humorous approach, he plays with these labels twisting them and presenting them in a variety of media through performances, drawings, still and moving images. He creates situations in which everyday objects are altered or detached from their natural function. By drawing specific narrative lines, different functions and contexts are created.
Salim Bayri is currently the half of BAZOGA music duo. LINK Salim Bayri
